10:30 – 12:30 Drum making Workshop by Misty Dawn of Magical Thangz
Hello Hopeful Drum Makers! Here’s your information for our upcoming drum making workshop.
We are offering 4 sizes and 2 hides.
- 10 inch drums (a great firstdrum for children, or those who travel a lot)
- 12 inch drums (perfect travel size with more reverberation)
- 15 inch drums (great for longer periods of drumming for most people)
- 18 inch drums (short periods of drumming, or stronger arms)
The 2 hides we are offering for this class are deer and elk. (Horse hide will be available on a case by case basis. It is the most difficult hide to work with, and not appropriate for first time drum makers). Deer are associated with the heart chakra. It is the easiest hide to work with. They are nearly white in color, and have a great reverberation. However, they are finicky about damp weather. (We will teach you a few tricks to help with this). Elk are associated with the solar plexus chakra. These hides can vary in color from a light yellowish coloring, to a milk chocolate. The tone is a bit lower than deer, and very melodic. These drums usually take longer to dry after making than any other hide. But it is well worth the wait. Horse is associated with the third eye chakra. These hides are typically very dark brown in color. They hit at a higher resonance and have a strong spiritual sound. These hides do not stretch well. And dry rather quickly. You must talk to me first before being set on this hide. Prices for this class are based on the size of drum you wish to create. Prices are as follows.

- 12 inch $135
- 15 inch $190
- 18 inch $250
You will be provided with all of the materials to create your drum, drum care instructions, sage, and a drum beater. If there are gems, herbs, or special small items you wish to add into the handle please bring them at the time of class. Payments are due 2 weeks before class, this allows us enough time to purchase all of your supplies. We will invoice you directly through PayPal. There are only 12 slots open for the class on May 25, 2024. This class will be held during the Beltane moon Bazaar.
